Event Description
|
| With the advent of dual-core and dual-processor machines, concurrent software development is breaking onto the scene--creating a paradigm shift like we havent seen since the OO movement. Two technologies that will help you add concurrency to your applications are threads and grid objects. While you can find a lot of documentation about adding threading to your apps, there isnt very much available to tell you how threads really work. Ill explain that to you. I will also use the Digipede Network to introduce you to grid objects. Grid objects give you the ability to easily distribute application functionality on a compute grid.
Building fast, scalable applications begins during the design phase and extends through the life of your application. After this presentation you will understand the Microsoft threading model. You will be introduced to grid computing as an extension of the threading model. I will show you how the Digipede Networks grid computing solution eliminates some of the problems inherent in multi-threaded applications. And you should leave with a better understanding of how the two technologies can work together to improve your applications scalability and performance.
